The sections of brain demonstrate multiple darkly pigmented nodules of metastatic melanoma. Malignant melanoma is not as common as basal cell or squamous cell carcinomas of the skin, though all three are related to sun exposure. Of the three, malignant melanoma is far more likely to metastasize, and the metastases can be widespread.
