Case 29

There is a large mass involving the larynx on the left and extending up toward the epiglottis. The most common tumor to arise in this location is squamous cell carcinoma. The major risk factor for this cancer is smoking. Another risk factor is alcoholism. The initial presenting complaint is often persistent hoarseness.
