The anterior slippage of one vertebral body on another is known as spondylolisthesis. It is most common at L4-L5, but also occurs at L5-S1 as seen here in this anatomical sagittal section. It occurs with spondylolysis and degenerative osteoarthritis. It is more common in women. The slippage may result in low back pain and/or nerve root injury.
