The last section of compact shelving is being installed on the lower level. Hopefully they will be finished and filled by mid-January. Also, core drilling was completed for the main level of the library last Friday night. Soon we will have more public access computers available.

Open at last!
Our library building officially re-opened to the public on Monday, August 23, 2010. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to get it ready so quickly — Public Services, Tech Support, etc. Tables and chairs have been arranged to restrict access to the stacks due to earthquake safety regulation while on the lower level construction of the compact shelving continues apace.
Filling bookshelves
Supervised by Mary McFarland, the temporary workers have been busy assembling shelving on the main and upper levels, and moving the books into them from the lower level. As a curtain of rain moves across the campus, here are a few pictures of how much has been accomplished so far.
Main floor ceiling at last!
Today the workers are putting the tiles up for the main floor’s drop-ceiling. Two of the men agreed to allow their picture to be taken while working. Meanwhile Mary Mac and crew are assembling bookshelves in the empty basement offices in preparation for moving the collection. Finally, we took a brief photo stop at the NLM offices.
All collections moved to basement – please request items.
All Books, Journals and Government Documents have been moved to the basement level. Eccles Health Sciences Library remains open until December 19th but is now a closed stacks library for the next six to seven months – until we re-open in June 2010. Library staff will pull requested items but our collections are no longer open to the public.
All items are in our Library Catalog (Only books and government documents have call numbers. We shelve journals by title.)
Request items from our collection via your Library Account in the Catalog, your ILLiad account, in-person or by phone, 581-5534.
