March Topic du Jour

At the EHSL monthly “Topic du Jour” presentation today Kathleen Amos, our NLM Fellow, led a discussion about “Retraction of Biomedical Literature as Indexed in MEDLINE.” Here is a brief summary of her interesting presentation’s content:

“Over the past few years, the retraction of biomedical literature indexed in MEDLINE has been increasing. An exploratory study was conducted to characterize these retractions in terms of such elements as initiating factor, retracting body, and reason for retraction, and to identify potential trends in retraction over time. The results of this study will be presented. Findings focus on the retraction of standard published papers, but ahead-of-print publications will be addressed briefly as well.”

Next month’s presentation will be on “information architecture” and why it’s important to library website design.
