Changes to PubMed Full-Text Linking

New and improved method for finding full-text articles from PubMed. This change, effective December 15, 2015 ensures users will see up to date, real-time information about full-text availability from campus libraries.

Find Full Text Icon

New Eccles Library custom PubMed link is now:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?otool=uutahlib
Update your bookmarks and your MyNCBI preferences.

To update NCBI Preferences:
• Log in to your MyNCBI account
• select NCBI Site Preferences at the top right of the MyNCBI screen
• under PubMed Preferences, click on Outside Tool.
• click the radio button next to University of Utah Eccles Health Sciences Library, then Save.

What has changed?

FindIt icon for full text

You will now see the “Find It” icon appearing next to all PubMed abstracts, rather than seeing the old Eccles Library filter icon, “Eccles Library Online” appearing only next to selected abstracts. Clicking on the Find It icon will direct you to full-text article options from the library catalog. When off campus, you’ll be prompted to log in with your uNID. If the University of Utah does NOT have full-text access to that particular article, you will see the interlibrary loan “Request an Article” option.

Why is it changing?

By linking to full text from the library catalog, we are able to provide access to hundreds of additional journal titles.

How does this affect me?

If you access PubMed from bookmarks , update your bookmark to the new custom URL: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?otool=uutahlib.

If you access PubMed via your MyNCBI account, configure your NCBI Site Preferences (see instructions above).

If you access PubMed from library website, PubMed links have been updated.
