For all you EndNote users who have wanted or needed to remove the PII (publisher item identifier) from the DOI (digital object identifier) field in the EndNote record — there is now a fix that allows for automatic removal.

EndNote provides two different files that can be added to the EndNote program folder.

To do this – go to your C drive > Program Files > EndNote X4 >. Place the enz file in the Connection folder and place the enf file in the Filter folder. (Files linked below)

After placing the files in these folder, select the files for use. Go to Edit > Connection Files > Open Connection Manager and select the PubMed enz file you just added. And, go to Edit > Import Filters > Open Filter Manager and select the PubMed enf file you just added.

If you have questions about this please contact Jeanne Le Ber; 801-585-6744.

The files are linked on the Handouts Page under EndNote X4 for Windows: right click on the file to save it –

PubMed(NLM)-remove-pii.enz
