Spring 2012 Remodeling: construction complete, nearly ready for move-in

The plastic sheeting no longer hangs from the ceiling, and visitors can see clearly into the new offices on the second floor. Once HVAC adjustments and the final inspection are completed, library faculty can finally move into new offices!

While we have referred to this as a recent remodeling project, it actually began in the fall of 2010 as the “Ceiling Project,” when the library had to close off sections for asbestos abatement, and updates to electrical systems and network wiring.

We want to thank all of our patrons for their patience and understanding during these crazy months.

Remodeling project: furniture in place

Furniture for the new offices on the upper and lower levels has been assembled and installed. Finishing touches on the ceilings and walls, hooking up telephone lines and Ethernet connections and a few last-minute items are all that is left before people can start moving in.

Remodeling at the Eccles Library continues, as walls with sheetrock, and new ventilation are installed. For information on expected noise levels, please check the home page on the library’s website.

The spots you are seeing on the photographs are not the result of a dirty lens. It’s the dust from all the sanding going on!

The Library’s lower and upper levels are being remodeled over the coming months. At times the work will be noisy, so we are posting “noise forecasts” on our website’s home page so patrons can know what to expect. Students and others needed quiet are encouraged to use study spaces in HSEB. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the space we serve patrons in!

Construction notice for Eccles Library

Remodeling of the second floor of Eccles Library will begin on Monday, January 30th, 2012, at 7:30 a.m., and should last for approximately 2-3 months. Patrons are encouraged to use the new study pods on the 1st floor, as well as spaces in the HSEB next door. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
