Gardner Lecture by Donald A. B. Lindberg, M.D., who is the current Director of the <a title="National Library of Medicine website" href="http://www.nlm.nih.gov/">National Library of Medicine</a> in Washington, D.C. He will speak on&#8221;Unsolved Problems in Medical Informatics&#8221; at the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics Auditorium. Here are the details:</p>

<p>Dr. Lindberg is a scientist who has pioneered applying computer technology to health care beginning in 1960 at the University of Missouri. In 1984 Lindberg was appointed Director of the National Library of Medicine, the world&#8217;s largest biomedical library. From 1992-1995 he served in a concurrent position as founding Director of the National Coordination Office for High Performance Computing and Communications (HPCC) in the Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This past March the U.S. National Library of Medicine sponsored a <a href="http://challenge.gov/NIH/127-nlm-you-the-video-contest">video contest</a> to help promote awareness of the excellent resources it offers by creating &#8220;original short videos which promote awareness of these products and services.&#8221; A team from Eccles Library created a 50-second video promoting MedlinePlus, which was scripted, filmed, edited and submitted in only five days!
