Getting Started in
Your Course Work -
My.Utah.edu: a useful portal for U. of U. students. It serves as a handy gateway to UMail, WebCT, the Campus Information System and more. UNID required. (what is a UNID?)
WebCT: an online course management tool that is an integral part of many University courses. Click here to find guides in using WebCT. UNID required. (what is a UNID?)
Remote Access to Library Resources: instructions for accessing online library resources while off campus. The use of some library tools are restricted to University of Utah affilliates, but you can still utilize most of them from home!
UOnline: many distance education courses are administered by the uonline system. Students can register for courses and exams, find course information, and more. UNID required. (what is a UNID?)
Supplemental Course Materials -

Electronic Reserves: many instructors make reserve materials available electronically through the Eccles Library Website. Marriott Library also makes some reserve materials available.
Online Texts and More: to supplement your textbooks and other course materials.
Interlibrary Loan Services: order materials online. There may be a fee charged to you.
Health Education Assets Library (HEAL): freely accessible images, videoclips, animations, presentations, and audio files that support healthcare education.
Neuro-Ophthalmology Virtual Education Library (NOVEL): images, videos, lectures and other digital media in the field of neuro-ophthalmology.
WebPath: includes over 1900 pathology images, tutorials, laboratory exercises, and examination items for self-assessment
Doing Research -

Research Tools: guides to get you started in researching topics in several fields.
Article Databases: searchable databases to help you find articles in periodicals and other publications. Some databases provide access to complete articles (fulltext), while others only refer to the periodical name, volume, year and pages (citations). Some individual databases are highlighted below.
PubMed: provides citations and some fulltext access to biomedical literature from more than 4800 periodicals. Includes over 16 million citations, some dating back to the mid-1950's. From the National Library of Medicine.
CINAHL: provides citations and some fulltext access to nursing and allied health literature. Includes over 1 million citations, dating back to 1982. Click on "CINAHL".
MedlinePlus: provides consumer/patient oriented information on over 700 conditions, diseases and wellness topics. From the National Library of Medicine.

Online Tutorials: many online tutorials to help you use the Internet, search for articles, and use software.
