Mike Ross is Program Manager for Continuing Education at the Great Lakes Center for Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health, an inter-disciplinary center at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Mike has 15 years of experience as an educator in environmental and occupational health. His current research interests are silica exposure on the railroads, hazard controls in cosmetology shops, and environmental exposures to heavy metals and to asbestos.
Mike's experience as an author and program manager for PulMeDx, a computer-based learning program in occupational medicine, whetted his appetite for long-distance delivery of occupational and environmental health educational and training materials. He is currently involved in developing a computer-based "virtual community" for training of the public health workforce as part of the Public Health Training Network.
