Actinic keratoses treatment

John L. Bezzant, M.D.

This patient had an enormous number of actinic keratoses, and applied Efudex and a high potency topical steroid (Halog ointment) twice daily to the involved areas. Once the inflammation cleared (it took about two weeks) his skin was extremely smooth and he was essentially free of lesions for about two to three years. He, as well as others who use Efudex, will start to develop new lesions about three years after the Efudex treatment, and when I offered Efudex treatment again, he declined.
