Cellulitis

John L. Bezzant,M.D.

This patient had cellulitis, and also had some sloughing of the epidermis with fluid just beneath the stratum corneum. When infection occurs over a joint, if the joint is infected, generally it is extremely painful to move the joint. If the joint is not involved, the joint can be moved with relatively ease, though it is somewhat painful as the soft tissue is being moved. In this case, a necrotic epidermis should be removed, and oral or systemic antibiotic can be given.
