History

A 25-year-old G1 P1001 presents to the emergency room with a history of painful vaginal bleeding. Her last menstrual period was 5 weeks ago and was reportedly normal. Her past medical history reveals the use of an IUD for one year associated with what was thought to be an episode of PID. Her physical examination reveals an anteverted small uterus and mild left adenexal tenderness without masses, and is otherwise normal. The urine dipstick was negative for leukocytes or blood.
