The Team

Sharon Dennis, MS Principal Investigator

Sharon E. Dennis received her M.S. in Library and Information Science from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA. She is currently Associate Librarian for Computer and Media Services at the University of Utah Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library. In addition to directing the Knowledge Weavers project, Sharon maintains the Eccles Health Sciences Library Web server and teaches a variety of classes about the Internet and Web page creation. Sharon has over ten years of experience designing and progra mming computer-based learning programs in the health sciences. She is also a consultant for the EnviroDx project (multimedia case studies in environmental medicine) and the EnviroRisk project, a program to train public health officers. Sharon may be reached at sdennis@lib.med.utah.edu

Suzanne Stensaas, Ph.D Co-Principal Investigator

Suzanne S. Stensaas is Professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy at the University of Utah. She is creator of the "Slice of Life" and "Slice of Brain" videodiscs and "HyperBrain" software. In addition to teaching neuroanatomy and directing Block 4 of the curriculum (Neuroscience) she feels it is her mission to expose faculty in other disciplines to the possibility of using technology in teaching and training.

Being located and partly supported by the Eccles Health Sciences Library, she is in a unique location to introduce faculty to the services of the Media section whether in software creation, preview, purchase or installation. The Eccles Staff serves the Health Science Faculty in all of these ways. She is currently focusing on expanding the multimedia library of "repurposeable" images to include sounds, videos and animations. These she solicits from colleagues around the world. At the present time the KW team is investigating possible ways to archive a case bank in addition to the bank of multimedia. Persons interested in contributing or serving in an editorial capacity are wanted. Please contact her suzanne.stensaas@hsc.utah.edu. Each June she organizes the program for the Slice of Life Workshop for presentations of technology and software for health science education that focuses on innovation, communication and networking among educators using technology.
