The Knowledge Weavers project team at the Spencer S. Eccles Library has developed the Content Development Templates (CDT), a Java-based application which will allow faculty of all technical abilities to create customized Web resources including didactic sites, disease description sites, and interactive case-based learning sites.
The team has produced two tools for the creation of interactive online quizzes.
The tools are designed to allow faculty to maintain a database of practice questions
and feedback, and to easily create Web-based "practice" quizzes from the question bank
without learning HTML or JavaScript. The tools are NOT designed for online testing but
rather for self-paced student learning.
Client-side Quiz Tool
WebQuizBuilder is designed for instructors who want to create interactive Web-based multiple-choice quizzes without coding in HTML or Javascript. The client-side version of WebQuizBuilder consists of a stand-alone FileMakerPro database interface and a program (written in Perl) that generates a Web-readable multiple choice quiz.
Server-side Quiz Tool
The online QuizGenerator allows faculty to create and maintain practice quiz banks which include questions, answers, feedback for each choice, and images. The quiz will also allow students to select questions in particular subject areas. QuizGenerator has been developed using a mySQL database and the PHP3 programming language.
The anatomy outliner is a Java-based tool that allows content experts to outline structures in anatomical images, label the structures, and publish the information to the Web.
An interactive random quiz, which allows the user to test themselves on the outlined anatomical structures, is generated with each outlined image.
