Site Production Notes

International Presentations:

Movie Clips:

  • Movie files: vary in size from 200K-15 MB
  • Movie clip length: 10 seconds to 2 minutes
  • Movies can be viewed at twice their screen size for presentation to large groups
(Functional only on the site or a DVD-ROM)
  • Downloaded movies retain their audio and captions

How were the audio and captions added to the videos?

  • LiveStage Professional, an application from Totally Hip Software, Inc., was used to create interactive buttons ("sprites") on top of the graphic frame (created in Adobe PhotoShop).
  • LiveStage was also used to program the actions for these buttons.
  • The “sprites” and graphic layers were exported from LiveStage Professional as a QuickTime movie.
  • Using QuickTime Pro, the graphics, sprites, video, audio, and caption tracks were then combined into a single QuickTime movie ready for delivery.

Optimal Website Performance for Video viewing?

  • NeuroLogic Exam movies viewed directly from the website play best when the user is on a T1 line or running the 840 MB site from a DVD-ROM.
  • Viewing movies over ISDN, Cable Modem or DSL is slower, but there is no loss of quality since the QuickTime movies are progressively downloaded.
  • The user must have at least QuickTime 5.0.2 and its browser plug-in to view the movies.
  • If you do not have Quicktime installed on your computer, download it for free using the following link...

    Get QuickTime
  • http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

How were the movies produced?

  • Camera: Cannon mini DV XL1s
  • Editing: Adobe Premiere 6
  • HTML Authoring: Macromedia Dreamweaver 4
  • Video Compression: Cleaner 5 using the Sorensen 3 codec at a 90:1 ratio
  • Captions: Created with Cleaner 5 Event Streams authoring feature
  • Movie Assembly: QuickTime Pro
