Philosophy

I believe in supporting, educating, motivating and empowering women to become active participants in their own health and wellbeing and in the health and well being of their families. I believe in the active participation and collaboration of families in the childbearing process. I believe in providing nurturing, sensitive, knowledgable, and skilled management of care at all times, but especially during the experience of labor and birth.

Nurse Midwifery Activities

1961 - 2001:In active practice of nurse-midwifery (in Utah since 1964)
1965:Initiated the graduate program to prepare the first certified nurse-midwives in Utah
1965 - 1976;
1984 - 1990:
Director, graduate nurse-midwifery program
1971:Wrote the first nurse-midwifery licensing act in Utah
1986 - 1990:Initial Director of Birthcare-Healthcare Associates
1994:Member of committee drafting an update of the Utah Nurse-midwifery Practice Act
