In this month's topic "Surgical Management of Gallbladder, Liver and Pancreatic
Tumors" we are using the following Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) terms:

Operations carried out for the correction of deformities and defects, repair of injuries, and diagnosis and cure of certain diseases. (Taber, 18th ed.)
Year introduced: 1998(1963)
- Gallbladder Neoplasms/surgery
Tumors or cancer of the gallbladder.
- Liver Neoplasm/surgery
Tumors or cancer of the LIVER.
- Pancreatic Neoplasms/surgery
Tumors or cancer of the PANCREAS. Depending on the types of ISLET CELLS present in the tumors, various hormones can be secreted: GLUCAGON from PANCREATIC ALPHA CELLS; INSULIN from PANCREATIC BETA CELLS; and SOMATOSTATIN from the D CELLS. Most are malignant except the insulin-producing tumors (INSULINOMA).
Please note where we have used the subheading "surgery" in order to narrow the results of the below searches (e.g. Pancreatic Neoplasms/surgery). Also, in some of the below searches we have narrowed the results by only searching articles where the topic is the major focus (e.g. "Gallbladder Neoplasms/surgery"[Majr]). Lastly, to further narrow the results from PubMed MEDLINE, the reference staff has applied date (5 year), language (English), and species (human) restrictions. These searches were performed August 02, 2005 so the results you get may be higher.
