In this month's topic "The HCI Skin Cancer Program: A Multidisciplinary, Translational Approach" we are using the following Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) terms:
  • Melanoma
A malignant neoplasm derived from cells that are capable of forming melanin, which may occur in the skin of any part of the body, in the eye, or, rarely, in the mucous membranes of the genitalia, anus, oral cavity, or other sites. It occurs mostly in adults and may originate de novo or from a pigmented nevus or malignant lentigo. Melanomas frequently metastasize widely, and the regional lymph nodes, liver, lungs, and brain are likely to be involved. The incidence of malignant skin melanomas is rising rapidly in all parts of the world. (Stedman, 25th ed; from Rook et al., Textbook of Dermatology, 4th ed, p2445)
  • Patient Care Team
Care of patients by a multidisciplinary team usually organized under the leadership of a physician; each member of the team has specific responsibilities and the whole team contributes to the care of the patient. Year introduced: 1968
  • Keywords:
    Multidisciplinary and translational
Please note where we have we have narrowed the results by only searching articles where the topic is the major focus ((Patient Care Team[Marj]). Lastly, to further narrow the results from PubMed MEDLINE, the reference staff has applied date (5 year), language (English), and species (human) restrictions. These searches were performed October 3, 2005 so the results you get may be higher.
