Computer Printing
Laser printing is available from public computers in the library. Printers are located at the Public Services desk on the main level. The first 10 pages of a research database (such as MEDLINE) are free; all other printing is fee-based. Payment can be cash, UCard, or Copy Card. Copy cards are availabe for $8.00 (100 copies) or $16.00 (200 copies). All printing goes through a print queue. Note the name & number on the terminal you wish to print from. Inform Library staff of the computer's name-number to collect and pay for print jobs, as well as to cancel print jobs. Color printing is also available.

Photocopying
Photocopiers are located at the north end of the Public Services desk on the main level. Copy cards are available for $8.00 (100 copies) or $16.00 (200 copies).

For University of Utah affiliates, Eccles Library pays the publisher's copyright fees, which can range from $5.00 to more than $75.00 per article.
All off-campus users (non-university affiliates) are responsible for publisher copyright fees.

Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
Reference Services
Although most Reference services, such as consultation and instruction are provided at no charge, Reference staff can perform online database searches for library patrons. Search fees are based on time or vendor charges (usually cost plus 50%.) Monthly current awareness searches can be arranged.
