Order a Literature Search

Although most Reference services, such as consultation and instruction are provided at no charge, cutomized, professional database searching by Reference staff are also available. Search fees are based on time or vendor charges (usually cost plus 50%.) Monthly current awareness searches can be arranged. You may fill out the form below, send us email email Reference Desk, come visit us, or call 801-581-5534 to consult with a librarian.


Normal turnaround time is approximately 48 hours.


Fees are as follows:

  • University of Utah students: $ 5.00 minimum
  • University of Utah staff & faculty: $15.00 minimum
  • Utah health care practitioners & patients: $15.00 minimum
  • Corporate patrons $40.00 minimum

Search fees are primarily based on time: Minimum fee plus $20 per hour after 30 minutes.


Fees vary according to database and vendor. When vendor charges are incurred, we bill cost plus 50%.
