NOVEL Cogan Committee Meeting

Cogan Collection Sub-Committee Charge: The Cogan collection consists of videos, slides, and other materials from the late David Cogan. Reviewing videos and prioritizing them for addition to the NOVEL collection is the first task. Assisting in preparing the metadata descriptions for the collection is another job.

Cogan Collection Sub-Committee Co-Chair recommendations: Drs. Nick Hogan, Nancy Lombardo, Kathleen Digre, Larry Frohman Co-chairs will be asked to find additional members for the sub-committees, which must be approved by the NANOS President.

Minutes:

Nick inquired about the collection, what is in it, are the Path slides available (Kupfer). Does anyone know where the cross-referencing program ended up? There was a print out that would be very useful. Nick will ask Ed Fitzgibbon about that.

Nick will contact Fred Chu and Ed Fitzgibbon to begin the “population” of the Cogan Collection sub-committee. He will also contact Beth, Dr. Cogan’s neice who worked with him for many years and knows the collection and organizational scheme very well.

If possible, Nick will organize a visit to Utah to review the collection. He will try to include Fred Chu and Beth (niece) if possible. The goal of the first visit will be to review the contents of the collection and make a first pass at prioritizing the material for inclusion in NOVEL.

Kathleen has offered to provide lodging for the visiting Cogan-ites. Nancy has agreed to find space to spread out the collection and provide the appropriate equipment for viewing and documenting what is found. (3/4” decks, slide projector, light table, TabletPCs? for recording what is found, etc)

After the initial assessment visit, the sub-committee (Nick, NTL, KBD, LF, others) will determine the best next steps.
