Major Sites of Hemoprotein Synthesis

Hemoproteins are synthesized in all mammalian cells. Major sites are:

Erythropoietic tissue

• polychromatophilic erythroblasts
• reticulocytes
• normoblasts (nucleated erythrocytes in bone marrow)
