This is a section through a dividing membrane of a twin placenta to reveal a thin cuboidal layer of amnion on each side. In the center are two chorions plastered together. Thus, this is a "diamnionic-dichorionic" twin placenta (di-di placenta), which makes the likelihood of dizygous twinning much more probable than monozygous twinning.
