The Wednesday, September 15th Library and Information Technology Forum features Rick Anderson and Ian Godfrey speaking about the Espresso Book Machine and On Demand Books at the Marriott Library. Please join us in the Spencer F. and Cleone P. Eccles Health Sciences Education Building, Room 2110 at 12:05-1:00 p.m.

Program Description: As a Time Magazine Best Invention of 2007, the Espresso Book Machine (the EBM), provides a revolutionary direct-to-consumer distribution and print model for books. Described as the ATM of books, the EBM Version 2.0 is a fully integrated patented book-making machine that can automatically print, bind, and trim on demand at point of sale perfect-bound library-quality paperback books with full-color covers (indistinguishable from a book on a bookstore shelf) in minutes for a production cost of a penny a page.

Presenters
Rick Anderson is Associate Director for Scholarly Resources & Collections in the J. Willard Marriott Library. He has worked previously at the University of Nevada, the University of North Carolina Greensboro, and as a bibliographer for YBP, Inc.

Ian Godfrey is the Facilities and ILS Administrator at the J. Willard Marriott Library. He has 15 years of collection management experience and recently completed serving four years as Renovation Manager for the library’s $79 million renovation/innovation project.
