An example of health literacy and reduction of perceived post-operative pain

Your Lung Operation packetAs publicized on Medical Marketing & Media, a recent study published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, patients who were shown a 30-minute video on what to expect and do before and after surgery for late-stage lung cancer, in addition to the standard consultation and information provided, reported lower pain levels than those that did not view the video. And this study’s results were subsequently used to create a “Your Lung Operation” patient education kit.
