Appy Hour Recap- March

On March 7 at Appy Hour, Carrie L. Byington, M.D., Associate Vice President, Faculty and Academic Affairs, Health Sciences, presented an app about Group B Strep.

The app is called Prevent Group B Strep and is available on Android and iOS.

Dr. Byington worked with a team of professionals to move the 2010 Guidelines for the Prevention of Perinatal GBS Disease into a more user-friendly interface. This streamlines interpretation of the guidelines at the point of care.

The app takes the user (pediatric and obstetric care providers) through a series of questions concerning the patient. Depending upon the answers, Prevent Group B Strep provides a specific patient management plan or appropriate antibiotic regimen in adherence to the 2010 Guidelines.

By converting the guidelines into a scenario driven app, pediatric and obstetric providers can better implement evidence-based guidelines to prevent GBS disease.

Give it a try!
