head shot of Tisha MentnechTisha Mentnech joined as faculty at the Eccles Health Sciences Library (EHSL) in November 2017.  Tisha is a librarian within the research and education department at EHSL. In this position she will develop research reproducibility and open science education strategy for the institution, contribute to data management planning and big data initiatives on campus, and teach courses and workshops around those topics and curricular based information classes in health sciences.

During her few months at the library, Tisha is a part of the planning committee for the 2018 Research Reproducibility Conference: Building Research Integrity Through Reproducibility.  She recently presented about the conference and larger institutional reproducibility effort at the 2018 Research Data Access and Preservation Summit and will also be presenting this at the 2018 Medical Library Association annual meeting. Tisha has also started to co-teach the Research Administration Training course for Research Data Management in the Sciences and on LabArchives.  She is also a part of the planning committee for the first Mountain West Data Librarian Symposium with other librarians in the region adapting this after the MidWest Data Librarian Symposium.

Tisha attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina and obtained a B.A. is Spanish and a B.S. in History. Her focuses were on Southern Appalachian History and Modern Spanish Literature along with public health initiatives in Cuba (which she was fortunately able to visit in 2013). Both of these programs helped develop strong interdisciplinary research skills that are of use today!

Prior coming to EHSL, Tisha attended Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts where she received her Master of Science in Library and Information Science. During her studies she also worked full time at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University where her interest in health science librarianship began. Tisha also participated in a research data management internship with Research IT Solutions at Harvard Medical School.

Tisha is originally from a small, mountain town in North Carolina and has spent all of her time up to now on the East Coast. Being new to this region of the US, she is looking forward to exploring everything there is to see.
