Animating HIV depicts the infection of a cell by HIV at a molecular scale using video of the animated life cycle, large-format prints, and sculptural pieces. An assistant professor in biochemistry at the U, Janet’s broad goal is to create accurate and compelling visualizations that will support research, learning, and scientific communication. Janet’s award-winning illustrations and animations have appeared in scientific journals and in the New York Times, and she was also named a 2017 TED senior fellow.
