Clear The Air Challenge

February 1st – 28th. It’s the Clear the Air Challenge — ride public transportation, bike, walk, carpool, or even skip a trip to help reduce emissions from single-occupant vehicles (SOVs) throughout the month of February. Your efforts, collectively add up to improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion and conserve energy in Utah.

Keep the momentum moving forward by doubling our efforts, and continue the good work and progress made so far. Eccles Health Sciences Library continues their participation to help keep the air clear. Participation instructions below.

Eccles Library won the 2017 Clean Air for U Challenge as the Top Team in the Per Capita category, and we’re aiming to do it again. We need all you buckaroos to saddle up and join the EHSL Pollution Posse and kick the dirty air out of town.

It’s easy to get started! Often, you’ll find that you are already doing many of the activities. You just have to log it and get credit for doing your part.

University of Utah Sustainability Challenge 2019

Anyone who logs at least one trip during the week (Monday-Sunday) is eligible for the weekly opportunity drawing. For end-of-challenge prizes, participants who log at least 15 trips in February are eligible.

Each week, we will do opportunity drawings. How do you get entered? By logging at least one non-single-occupant vehicle trip during the previous week (Monday-Sunday). Prizes will be announced in this newsletter.

  • Weekly drawings (in no particular order): Cycling jersey and shorts from University of Utah Health; bike tune-up from the Campus Bike Shop; Cotopaxi pack; U Outdoor Adventures gift certificates; GREENbike annual membership; and four tickets to U Gymnastics from Utah Athletics.

At the end of the challenge, we’ll do opportunity drawings for participants who log at least 15 non-single-occupant vehicle trips during the month of February. All U team members are eligible

  • End-of-challenge drawings: Ski tickets from Ski Utah; GREENbike annual membership; Cotopaxi water bottle and blanket; and a Utah Annual State Park Pass courtesy U Sustainability Office.
