After successfully piloting a Health Science Graduate Writing Center last year, the Graduate School and the Department of Writing & Rhetoric Studies are pleased to announce plans to house the Health Science Graduate Writing Center in the Spencer S. Eccles Health Science Library for the 2020-2021 academic year.
For Fall 2020, graduate students in the health sciences can schedule 30- or 60-minute appointments – similar to Zoom meetings – with Loni Manning, Graduate Writing Tutor, to discuss their writing via the Graduate Writing Center’s scheduling platform: https://utah.mywconline.net/.
In Spring 2021, a room will be available in the Eccles Health Sciences Library for socially-distanced, in-person help, and tutorials, as well as continued virtual assistance.
Loni can help graduate students working on their theses and dissertations, as well as their coursework projects, research proposals, grant applications, articles for publication, and application materials. She will support students needing help focusing their writing, organizing their ideas, citing their sources, and addressing repeated grammar issues. and she looks forward to helping STEM majors share their work with readers across the disciplines.
Loni is a PhD Candidate in Education, Culture, and Society and has multiple years’ experience as a graduate writing tutor. Further, she is passionate about helping writers in the Health Sciences successfully and effectively communicate with different discourse communities.
In addition to receiving help from the Health Science Graduate Writing Center, students can get asynchronous support from a tutor via eTutoring and use the premium version of Grammarly for those students actively enrolled in graduate school.
The Eccles Health Sciences Library, Graduate School and Department of Writing & Rhetoric Studies are here for you and want you to succeed. Schedule an appointment today to get writing assistance.
