This summer the Office of Health Equity and Inclusion, the Native American Summer Research Internship (NARI) program, and Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library (EHSL) are co-sponsoring the reading of:  I’ll Go and Do More by Carolyn Niethammer.  Starting on June 14th the community is invited to gather at NOON in the lower level of EHSL, enjoy a light lunch, and have a lively discussion of the book.
I’ll Go and Do More: Annie Dodge Wauneka, Navajo Leader and Activist is the story of Annie Dodge Wauneka (1918–97), daughter of Navajo leader, Chee Dodge, three term member of the Navajo Tribal Council, advocate for Navajo public health and education, the first Native American to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and The Legendary Mother of the Navajo Nation, as recognized by the Navajo Council. I’ll Go and Do More chronicles the triumphs, challenges, and enduring accomplishments of Annie Dodge Wauneka as she advocated for American Indian health care, education, and other issues, working both on the reservation and in the halls of Congress to improve the lives of the people of the Navajo Nation.
