Mayden Lecture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Joyce Mitchell is our guest speaker for the 2010 Priscilla M. Mayden Lecture in February. Her talk is titled, &#8220;Genetics\/Genomics and Biomedical Informatics: Two Rivers Merging,&#8221; and it will focus on the growth of large data sets in the aftermath of the Human Genome Project; the rise of a consumer health movement focused on genomic\/genetic questions; and the push for electronic medical recores as part of the ARRA HIT Stimulus finds. These forces are coming together to create a perfect storm for personalized healthcare with a focus on the use of genomics data in patient care and the need for clinical decision support in the genomics space.<\/p>\n<p>The talk will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010, from 4:00 &#8211; 5:00 pm in HSEB 1730. This lecture is free thanks to funds from the Priscilla M. Mayden endowment, and is presented by the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library.
