Papulopustular flare of acne vulgaris-KH

John L. Bezzant, M.D.

The same patient who failed to respond to topical and oral antibacterials, and required injection every two to four weeks of the very tender inflammatory lesions on her chin and face. I used Kenalog 4 mg/cc diluted with lidocaine with epinephrine, and I previously checked with the pregnancy drug information hot-line regarding the safety of this during pregnancy. The patient responded very well to the injections, and it helped control the inflammation and probably helped prevent scarring.
