If a person has over about 15 actinic keratoses, I generally recommend using Efudex if the person is willing. I told them that they are going to look very red and have significant stinging/burning/itching. It is important to show them a pamphlet regarding precisely how bad they will look during the time of treatment and for several weeks thereafter.
