TCN = tetracycline ECN = erythromycin

General rules:

Continue oral antibiotic (TCN or ECN) at 1.5 to 2.0 g/day until there are essentially no more papules and pustules, then taper by 500mg each month if they remain clear.
Continue topical(s) for two months AFTER clearing before stopping them to insure that the clarity is not a temporary fluke.
Most patients with acne usually require some type of Rx through the late teens to early twenties.
