Treatment of anaphylactic shock with epinephrine

John L. Bezzant, M.D.

The treatment of choice during severe urticaria or anaphylactic shock is epinephrine 1:1000. If the patient has rather severe urticaria, but no evidence of respiratory compromise or significant drop in blood pressure, then Sus-Phrine (epinephrine 1:200) can be administered. Both are to be administered in the subcutaneous fat, and the doses are indicated.
