Abstract:
The use of the internet for medically-related tutorials has been increasing rapidly. The development of quizzes for these tutorials is important in two aspects. First, it allows students to obtain some feedback as to whether he/she has achieved the learning objectives set out by the authors. Second, it gives the authors of these tutorials an idea of how students perform and what aspects of the tutorial need to be improved. Our goal is to develop a multi-purpose, platform-independent quiz system for use in the internet. To date, our working prototype handles multiple-choice questions that have 2 to 5 choices, and the questions can be medical images. Importantly, it provides written feedback for each question, as well as test scores, which are also stored for review by the authors. Questions can be entered by using a web-based interface or directly by way of a database program. A few online tutorials have already adopted the quiz system perfectly. Currently under testing is a beta system which features a plat
Benefit in Attending Session:
The presentation will bring attention to the participants the importance of interactive quizzes in web-based tutorials. It will also show them that different form of questions can be readily implemented, thereby encouraging them to consider quizzes as an integral part of any tutorial they wish to develop.
