Abstract:

A prototype multimedia application for self directed learning was produced. This product will be available on MicrosoftÆPowerPointÆ or Internet web-browsers. The platform-independent access for multiple users at remote locations could be available when an Internet web-browser is used.

The product was designed as a multimedia problem based instruction for the self-directed learning for medical students in the pre-clinical year. It was structured in a problem based manner in which the students might be required to have the ability in the cue recognition, the hypothesis generation, the problem reformulation and making the inquiry strategy to solve problems in a case of myocardial infarction. The supplementary interpretations for the anatomy, physiology and pathology of ischemic heart diseases were added with a variety of images and animations which would lead the students to easily understand the dynamic pathophysiology of human cardiovascular system.

Benefit in Attending Session:

Participants will acquire ideas through the discussion about multimedia on Internet web-browser.
