Auditorium Presentation
Software Design using Knowledge from the Learning Sciences
Andy C. Reese Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia
Abstract:
Dramatic advances in the cognitive/learning sciences over the past fifteen years have provided insights into how people acquire and process information, form memories, and recall specific information when needed and appropriate. This knowledge allows us to make rational decisions about the types of information technology that may be effective in conveying the information we want to get across and when and how to use that technology. This presentation will provide some relevant background from the cognitive sciences and will then show how to apply it in various situations.
Benefit in Attending Session:
The attendee will be introduced to basic concepts of learning and memory formation. They will then be shown how these concepts can be used in making choices about the design of information technology for use in the curriculum.
