Abstract:

Recent technologies like Mac OS X Server and the new QuickTime opened new possibilities for computer classrooms. NetBoot allows all computers to share a single system folder and programs. It is even possible to have diskless computers as clients to completely prevent any manipulation by the users. Quicktime 4 allows streaming media delivery and live streaming. In our project we created a classroom with 20 Macintosh G4 machines that use NetBoot, build up a QuickTime streaming server for the medical faculty and integrated Windows software via a wincenter server.

Benefit in Attending Session:

The complete process from generating a concept to chosing software the final installation will be discussed and shown (video where possible) in detail. Possible mistakes and deadends will be outlined. Necessary and additional useful information resources will be presented.
