Just what is the Slice of Life
anyway? We started as contributors to a
videodisc of shared images and then evolved into a group of suers of the
videodisc developing learning tools.
Today the Slice of Life workshop has evolved into a gathering of those
interested in the many solutions to using new technologies in education.
Back in 1986 there were no CD-ROMs, no
World Wide Web, DOS computers were chugging along, and the Macintosh was being
exploited as a multimedia computer.
But the laservision videodisc was
available as a means of storing enormous amounts of video and images. In this brief demonstration, we'll see the
old Slice of Life videodisc at work, then show some of the new age
alternatives, including a special DVD-Videodisc player from Pioneer with
barcode and serial control of an experimental Slice of Life DVD. We'll also show ways in which classic video
instruction can be recycled into interactive digital video for today's
instructional needs.
