Adapting Multimedia CD-ROM Content to the Web

Abstract:

With the advent of the Web authors of multimedia teaching content gained a new authoring tool (HTML) as well as a distribution medium. The Web offers a powerful, capable, but non-proprietary alternative to authors who have invested in earlier multimedia authors environments only to see those tools fade in prominence or even disappear from the marketplace.

This talk will describe the process of converting a large (>1300 images) multimedia program to HTML for use on the Web. I'll talk about the advantages of converting "pre-processed" CD-ROM content to HTML, but also describe some of the challenges we had adapting presentation of content from the CD-ROM model to the Web page interface.
