Abstract:
EtherMed is an experimental database of health professions educational resources on the World Wide Web. Each record contains bibliographic data about the resource as well as a link to it. Users can search for resources by title, author, institution, subject, and instructional method. Since each record has a description of the subtopics and multimedia formats employed, this field can be searched to obtain more precise retrieval. The records are descriptive, not evaluative. EtherMed has links to sites providing evaluations of courseware in the health sciences and to sites offering guidelines and tools for doing such assessments. It is also possible to collaborate in maintaining the database online.
Benefit in Attending
Session:
Participants will learn about a potentially useful portal to online education resources. They will see a demonstration of an application that uses Cold Fusion and the Web to access database software. They will also see a demonstration of a Web search interface.
