Abstract:
JavaScript is one of the few approved
standards for the World Wide Web. JavaScript allows web-authors to create
cross-platform interactivity by controlling the various elements of HTML.
JavaScript is not as powerful as compiled programming languages such as C++ or
Java, but it is much easier to learn and to implement.
After communicating the essential facts
on how to integrate JavaScript into HTML pages, examples such as how to change
an image (rollover effect), change the content of a frame, open a new window,
and simple calculations will be shown. Debugging with the Netscape Console and
Internet Explorer will be covered as well as MIME type mapping on the
WWW-Server. Examples of how to combine forms with JavaScript to create
interactivity and form evaluation will be discussed. The concept of the
preworkshop is to swap between theory and exercises.

Anyone who wants to add interactivity to
a Web site without too much effort.
