Using Cold Fusion with XML

Ken M. Williams
University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA

ABSTRACT:

We use Cold Fusion extensively for dynamic page generation, quiz processing, biology laboratory simulations and other dynamic functions within our Website (The Biology Project, http://www.biology.arizona.edu).

We have embarked on a project to completely re-cast the Website, using XML in conjunction with either DTD or XML schemas. This breakout session will bring together those who have started, or are considering similar projects, to discuss the various approaches to connecting Cold Fusion with XML. Discussions will include a veritable alphabet soup of technologies emerging to handle this challenge: SOAP, XSL, DOM, MDOM and more.

BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:

In the world of XML, we are all novices. I'd like to host a session where those of us who are making the jump to XML and dynamic websites can swap experiences and war stories. The benefits are obvious -- new ideas, fresh perspectives and a chance to meet new people working on similar projects.
