Dysphonia

ABSTRACT:
The program provides interactive learning in a subdiscipline of the ear, nose and throat course incorporated in the medical curriculum. The greatest benefits can be reaped from being able to integrate sound (voice) with images, video clips and descriptive text of various pathological conditions, while voice acoustic analysis is also provided. The program has several access gateways, which is useful for the varying approach and interest of the user. A number of cases are included for some of the diagnoses, and each diagnose is explicitly described in every possible way in classic textbook style. There is also a comprehensive glossary to explain medical terms, which makes full use of the Hypertext function. In addition to photographic images and schematic drawings, some video clips are included to show examination technique, therapeutic sessions, and surgical interventions. Some results of the efforts to construct a web version will also be presented.
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
This program is being used in the ENT-course at Malmo University Hospital and is a showcase for multimedia programs. It illustrates obvious advantages of CBT over conventional textbooks. Video-clips, images and sound are there for a defined purpose.
