ABSTRACT:
This presentation looks at a computerized Interactive Human Anatomy Course designed specifically to teach introductory gross human anatomy solely through distance education. The course is composed of three components: a commercial CD-ROM, WebCT, and a working manual. The commercial CD-ROM and WebCT components allow students to interact with the various materials, discuss presented topics among themselves and communicate with the instructor. Students are able to rollover a variety of materials from hand drawn diagrams to cadaver materials. They can teach themselves, identify new materials and test their newly acquired knowledge. Drag and drops on cadaver specimens and diagrams will also allow students to test themselves on the material. The working manual will provide the students with a directional guide through the different modules and give them a reference manual once the course is complete.
BENEFIT TO PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING SESSION:
Participants would find the instructional approach and use of animation unique. Through the use of flash, innovative rollovers and drag and drops on cadaver specimens have been created. Quick time videos, animations, and crossword puzzles are other forms of visual presentation individuals would find interesting.
