ABSTRACT

Clinical Anatomy is a multimedia CD-ROM product developed for the specific needs of family physicians, who due to busy practices and being far away from tertiary learning centers in rural areas, can not be reached with a formal on campus training program. In order to equip family physicians with the necessary clinical anatomy skills to understand patient problems, perform various physical examinations and invasive procedures, and interpret radiographic images, we have developed a multimedia clinical anatomy program assisted by email communication. The CD-ROM offers a relevant clinical anatomy text with 8 chapters, actual human prosections, clear-labeled illustrations, radiographic anatomy images, as well as clinical case studies. Educational features such as self-assessment exercises, study schedule, and electronic communication via email or bulletin board make this product more than a learning resource. After one-year experience students assessed the product favorably concerning assessment of resource integration and electronic communication as well as the products influence on different aspects of clinical practice and the learning process. We believe this product can improve on patient care by augmenting clinical anatomy skills of family physicians.

BENEFIT IN ATTENDING

Clinical Anatomy shows how relevant anatomy can be presented telematically by multimedia and electronic communication to reach a target group of family physicians in rural areas. The CED is well illustrated with various educational features and interactive learning resources
